@phakajuju You also want to strenghten the muscles between your shoulder blades (rhomboids). Start with trying to get your shoulder blades to touch each other (not possible but that is the visual). When that gets easy then you can lie face down with with your arms out and do the same thing. Advance to holding soup cans or other weights. Or you can use resistance bands attached around something solid and pulling back with your fhomboid muscles. But it important to get the pec minor loose.
Wow great vid. I just started physical therapy because of weak muscles on my shoulderbalde that have prevented me from playing Violin. This excersize and info you just gave is really helpful and true. Thank you.
excellent points here keep you the support for us Desk Jockeys
I meant in my last reply, that your numbness is unlikely caused by pec minor. This video shows how to work on pec minor without stretching it. It may be causing your rounded shoulder problem. But I would work on scalenes first. Actually you can massage the scalenes yourself – even though that video says you can’t. But I don’t post that on youtube.
Unlikely that pec minor is causing prob. Scalene muscles are what you want to look at first. They can pinch off both nerves and blood supply to shoulders (as well as down to the thumb side. Don’t do stretches that make you feel worse. PT should feel for trigger points before suggesting exercise. (my opinion)
I get it in the thumb…few months ago the whole side of my deltoid and my thumb went numb…had an MRI but there were no serious structural issues. Physical therapist said my shoulders were quite rounded. Will long term stretching decrease nerve impingement? It seems that doing the back strengthening and pec lengthening exercises causes the numbness to flare up for some reason, and kills my motivation to keep stretching.
I am prone to tightness in my pectoralis minor whenever I experience a panic attack and the lingering effects of this tightness keep me from typing and playing guitar for a few days after the fact. These exercises really work and I’m very grateful for your videos. Thank you!

You can find many risk elements for low back pain such as increasing age, heavy physical work, obesity, smoking, drug abuse, and history of headache, job dissatisfaction, and monotonous work. You will find several causes for low back pain, and also the much more significant causes need to be excluded by an accurate history and physical examination. Nevertheless, in acute low back pain, a definite source of pain can not be discovered in about 85% of people.
